Group opposes special commission for Nigerians abroad

A RECENT call by Abike Dabiri-Erewa of the House of Representatives for establishment of a special commission on Nigerians in the Diaspora has elicited criticisms from Nigerians in Ireland who preffered that the nation’s embassies across the world be made functional.

In a statement, the group said: “Dabiri-Erewa’s call is yet another pointer to the failure of the numerous Nigerian embassies and High Commissions all over the world. You may recall the cries of Nigerians in Diaspora to successive governments on the ills ravaging various embassies. Her call is also a direct indictment on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This call will once again re-open the debate on our foreign policies and the misplaced priorities.”
